Baylor softballers go yard twice en route to state title over GPS

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, TN (WRCB)-- The Girls Preparatory School Bruisers learned Friday at the 2015 Spring Fling that turnabout is fair play, the team they beat last year for the state title would not repeat the same mistake twice.

That team being the Baylor Lady Red Raiders and Kayla Hughes, who after giving up a 3 run home run in the Bruisers' first at bat, settled down to guide her team to a 6-4 win over their crosstown rival.

Bruisers pitcher Hailey Smith started the scoring in the first with two on and no outs, ripping the Hughes offering over the left field fence.

Lauren Lewis responded with a home run of her own in the bottom of the frame, one of two for the day for Baylor, who beat GPS in the opening round.
