Play ball! Dad stops father-daughter wedding dance for a game of catch

Posted: Updated:
NBC News - The bride wore a beautiful white gown, but not everything about Kandice Mickunas' wedding day was quite so traditional.

Although she took the floor for the usual dance with dad during her reception, what she ended up with was less ballroom and more ball game.

As a clip from the big day reveals, Kandice's father decided the old song and dance just wasn't their style.

"My daughter has always found her own path," dad Jim wrote in caption accompanying the video on YouTube. "She played flag football at 6. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in soccer and track. She then became an engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22."

So he found a game of catch more fitting for the two of them.

"I could not imagine having a traditional father daughter dance with her," he explained. "That is not what we were or are...So I came up with this. She had no idea!"

See the sweet game in the clip, and be sure to watch all the way to end for something even sweeter as dad hands his glove off to a new player.
