Buxton's slam helps down Biscuits 10-3

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (lookouts.com)---Byron Buxton's grand slam and Greg Peavey's strong outing sparked the Lookouts (24-15) to a 10-3 win over the Montgomery Biscuits (17-22) in front of a crowd of 4,363 fans at AT&T Field.

Before smacking his fifth home run of the year, Buxton started the game off with a single to left field.  After stealing second base and advancing to third on a ground out, the speedy outfielder scored on a ground ball hit by Miguel Sano. Up one run the team added a run on a Michael Gonzales RBI single and two more on Stuart Turner's second homer of the season.

In the fourth inning, Peavey allowed his only runs of the afternoon on a RBI double by Pat Leonard and a RBI ground out by Justin O'Conner. Peavey finished the day going seven innings and in his last three starts is 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA.

With the game now within two runs, the Lookouts loaded the bases and Buxton smacked the grand slam to put the game out of reach. Two more runs in the fifth inning gave the Lookouts 10 runs, marking the sixth time this season the team has scored 10 or more runs in a game.

Starting pitcher DJ Baxendale (3-0, 1.96) gets the call tomorrow for the Lookouts against Austin Pruitt (2-3, 2.59). The game is set for 7:15 pm with gates opening at 6:00 pm.
