ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia's governor and first lady are planning to honor slain veterans during a ceremony at the state Capitol.
Gov. Nathan Deal said in a statement that he and first lady Sandra Deal are hosting the ceremony at Liberty Plaza Wednesday at 11 a.m.
The two are expected to be joined by Gen. Joe Jarrard of the Georgia Department of Defense, Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial President Tommy Clack and others.
According to the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, the state is home to more than 752,000 veterans.
