City hopes Pedestrian Action Plan makes city more accessible

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The city of Chattanooga needs your help connecting the gaps.

Monday night, the City Transportation Department hosted a kick-off community meeting in Avondale. It was the first of a series of meetings to hear input on making Chattanooga more accessible. The Pedestrian Action Plan hopes to connect neighborhoods and address safety concerns. It includes an online map-based portal for your ideas and suggestions.  The city says it's about more than just sidewalks.

On that note of safety, it's worth a mention, Hamilton County has had 18-pedestrian-related accidents through March of this year. Last year, in Hamilton County there were 110 pedestrian involved incidents.  Also, keep in mind that there are not any jay-walking laws in the county.
