Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Employees at Alstom in Chattanooga were evacuated Monday afternoon as six Chattanooga Fire Department fire companies were dispatched to the facility.

Alstom has two primary facilities in Chattanooga, the turbine facility and the boiler services facility.

The boiler services facility was the one affected.

Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner tells Channel 3 that a pipe was being ground, which overheated and smoldered.

There was no damaged to the building and no injuries were reported.

The evacuation was done as a precautionary measure.

Channel 3 has a crew there and will update this developing story.
