UPDATE: Driver found who allegedly hit child with vehicle
UPDATE: The driver wanted by Chattanooga Police Officers for his part in a pedestrian struck case has been identified.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon on West 14th Street Courts. A one-year-old was playing near a parked vehicle when the driver moved his car and he was struck.
The driver, Patrick Whitaker, confirms to police that he did stop to render aid but the mother of the child became hostile and in order to prevent a possible physical altercation, he decided to leave the scene. But he doesn't believe he actually hit the child with his vehicle. There is video supporting the claim that an argument with the mother of the child had started but it doesn't show if Whitaker actually hit the child.
Whitaker was cited for driving on a revoked license. At this time, no other charges are pending.
