A fight turned to shots fired early Saturday morning, resulting in an attempted murder charge.
Police were dispatched to this residence on 44th street, after receiving a call about an aggravated assault. "Police responded to the residence to follow up on the incident and the alleged suspect refused to come out,” Sgt. Joe Shaw.
Police spoke with Charles Moore, who told them he'd been partying all night with the suspect, Robert Murphy, when a fight broke out between them.
He claims Murphy struck him on the head with a pipe and as Moore attempted to leave the residence; Murphy fired his gun and ran back inside. "They surrounded the house, called for him to come out, he refused, the SWAT team was called to respond," said Shaw.
That's when the suspect came out. Robert Murphy was charged with attempted murder. Police say this isn't the first time they've been out to his home. "We have had at least three calls since 2014 to this residence. Some of those have been for assaults and shots fired," said Shaw.
Moore was sent to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
While searching the property, police also found a 4-wheeler that was reported stolen out of Walker County. They are continuing to investigate this crime.
