Two Cleveland cops reprimanded and re-assigned after scandal

CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

Two Cleveland police officers were disciplined following an Internal Affairs investigation, according to a news release from Cleveland Police Department Public Information Officer Evie West.

Lieutenant Steve Tyson and Officer Jeff Griggs have been re-assigned following the investigation conducted by the District Attorney's Office.

Despite the investigation's findings, both will remain with the Cleveland Police Department.

Griggs violated departmental policies of truthfulness, prohibited behaviors, disobeying orders and "Compliance with Direct Orders of Superior or Internal Investigation Officer.”

He was also demoted from a Crime Scene Technician and reassigned to the Patrol Division as a Level 25 patrol officer.

Tyson violated departmental policy of “Failure to Report Violations.”

He received a written reprimand and will be reassigned from the Criminal Investigations Division to the Patrol Division as a patrol Lieutenant.

The investigation's findings come the day after Cleveland police Captain Dennis Maddux announced his retirement after admitting to an affair with the wife of a fellow officer.
