UPDATE: CPD investigating Pizza Hut delivery driver shooting

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday night just before 8.

The victim, 25-year-old Donotae Lawery, was delivering a pizza to a residence in the area of 700 Gillespie Road.  

Lawery told police he became involved in a verbal altercation with a black male, due to history with a third party, and left the scene upon being threatened.   

Police tell Channel 3, as Lawery was leaving in his vehicle he heard a single gunshot and noticed he had been shot.  

He drove himself to his job, the Pizza Hut on Brainerd Road and was then transported via personal vehicle to a local hospital. 

Lawery's injuries are non-life threatening.  Investigators were unable to locate a crime scene in the area Lawery stated the shooting occurred.

Chattanooga Police still ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423-698-2525.  

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators tell us a black male arrived via a personal vehicle at a local hospital for a gunshot wound.

The victim told police that he was shot in the area of Shannon Avenue and Gillespie Road. 

The victim's injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

There is no suspect information available at this time.

Investigators are working to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
