Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army kicked off its annual Beat the Heat campaign.

The program allows people in need, across the Tennessee Valley, to get free fans for their homes. The Salvation Army says many families are already struggling and helping them through this program makes a difference in their well being.

If you're in need of a fan you can apply in person  on Fridays throughout the summer, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at The Salvation Army Social Services Offices located at 2140 East 28th Street.

  • You will need to bring the following information/items to apply:
  • Picture ID of person applying
  • Proof of income or Food stamp award letter
  • Proof of address, either a utility bill in your name, or 2 pieces of current mail

Donations can also be taken to the same address.
