New fund set up to help victims of crime

Posted: Updated:
Victims of crime will have access to billions of dollars next year, thanks to efforts by Tennessee Senator Bob Corker.
It's called "The Crime Victims Fund" created to help the victims of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes.
The budget resolution provides an estimated 2.5-billion dollars in funds, without using taxpayer dollars.
It's funded by fines and penalties collected from convicted criminals.
Senator Corker is one of 5 behind the provision.
Child advocacy centers, domestic violence shelters, and rape crisis centers will be supported by the funding.
