Georgia school systems awarded technology grant money

Several county and city school systems in Georgia have been awarded parts a state-wide $25.3 million grant for technology.

The grant, part of a second round of the Connections for Classrooms grant program, is to help classrooms across the state with high-speed broadband access that is required for digital and “blended” learning, according to a news release.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal announced the 136 local education authorities that received the grants Tuesday.

Those in the Tennessee Valley include:

  • Walker County
  • Whitfield County
  • Chattooga County
  • Murray County
  • Gordon County
  • Floyd County
  • Fannin County
  • Chickamauga City
  • Dalton City
Applications for the third round of grants will open in July.
