Mayfield milk gets the ‘DairyPure' brand

Posted: Updated:

Mayfield milk sold in stores throughout East Tennessee has a new label that proclaims it to be the DairyPure brand, although the familiar Mayfield logo still appears.

The change comes as Dallas-based Dean Foods, which bought the iconic Mayfield Dairy in Athens in 1990, moves to consolidate all 31 of its regional milk brands under the DairyPure name.

It's part of a plan to boost its business and tout the quality of its products, the dairy conglomerate said Monday.

Regional labels such as Mayfield aren't going away anytime soon, though. Dean says all of the regional brand names will remain on the milk packaged and sold by the various dairies in its fold — the new brand name will be just an addition to the labels.
