A taqueria needs a cleaning plan, and two eateries score well

Posted: Updated:

Hamilton County restaurant inspectors hit the streets again this week visiting just a handful of places that were put under the microscope.

The inspection team is out of town this week at a state conference. They left me with some great news, and that's no failing grades to pass along. Remember, a failing grade is any score lower than a 70.

But this restaurant came close at 73, with a few violations that need correcting at Taqueria Jalisco on Market Street.

Inspectors found cooks handling raw food without gloves, there wasn't the standard dishwashing system in place using several sinks. Also, queso dip was at the wrong temperature. Once again they score a 73

The high score of the week is a tie, as we congratulate J. Alexander's and Jimmy John's on Market Street. They are serving up an impressive 97.

If you have complaint about a pool, restaurant, health care facility, or day care, even the place where you workout call the Hamilton County Health Department Hot Line at 423-209-8110. Someone will personally handle your complaint weekdays between 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Have a great weekend and enjoy your meal!
