4 local businesses fail compliance checks

On Wednesday, April 29 the Chattanooga Police Department's Regulatory Bureau, in partnership with the Hamilton County Coalition, conducted compliance checks at 16 local convenience stores to ensure these locations are selling alcohol only to legal age citizens. 

Sixteen businesses were checked and 4 businesses sold alcohol to an under aged buyer.

The establishments that sold to the under age buyer were cited and will appear before the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Businesses that failed the check

-Rogers Super Market, 1400 E. Main St 

-One Stop Shop, 1221 Grove St

-The Kangaroo Express, 234 Browns Ferry Rd 

-The Kangaroo Express, 3743 Cummings Hwy.

Businesses that passed

-Ria's, 804 Broad St; 

-Kankus, 702 Central Ave; 

-Kankus; 300 E. ML King; 

-Citgo,  1135 E 3rd St; 

-Tienda  Maya, 1939 Central Ave; 

-Downtown Super Center, 1300 E. Main St; 

-Favorite Market, 1221 E. Main St; 

-Star Discount Tobacco, 115 Browns Ferry Rd; 

-Mapco Mart, 3709 Cummings Hwy; 

-Shiva Food Mart,  303 Browns Ferry Rd; 

-Favorite Market, 201 Browns Ferry Rd; 

-The Big H, 618 W. 38th St.

The cited businesses are set to appear before the Chattanooga Beer Board on May 7th, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.  

The Hamilton County Coalition coordinates the underage buyers who used real IDs are between 18-19 years of age.
