CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -  Bradley Central High School sent a message to its top academic students who have earned college scholarships: "You're important too!"

Coordinators of the GEAR-UP program hosted an Academic Signing Day, similar to the Athletic signing days that receive widespread media attention.  Principal Todd Shoemaker said, "We believe that our students who are receiving substantial academic scholarships deserve the same recognition."

The classroom stars invited their parents and most influential teachers to share in the photo opportunity.  Several area colleges were also represented.  Shoemaker said he hopes other area high schools adopt the idea of an Academic Signing Day.
