Man assaults police officer in ER

Posted: Updated:

A Chattanooga man, who was the victim of assault, is facing charges for assaulting an officer in a hospital emergency room.

Bailey Ennis, 21, was taken to the hospital on Sunday after being assaulted and possibly jumping out of a car.

Court documents show first responders requested officers ride with Ennis in the ambulance due to his “combative behavior”. When they arrived to the hospital Ennis began screaming. After asking Ennis to calm down and move to another room, an officer says Ennis became violent and grabbed his leg near his weapon and attempted to bite him. The officer struck him with an open hand in the head and Ennis calmed down.

Ennis was later booked at the Hamilton County Jail and charged with assault on police.
