A UTC football player, accused of stealing from a local Walmart, turned himself in to authorities Tuesday.
According to court documents obtained by Channel 3, Cedric Nettles, 20, is accused of stealing a dvd player and grocery items from the Walmart store on Signal Mountain Road on March 22.
A citation, filed in Hamilton County General Sessions Court, says Nettles was seen on surveillance video skipping the self check out scanning process and leaving the store with a LG DVD player and grocery items. The total value of the items was $45.04.
Nettles was cited and ordered to turn himself in. He is charged with theft under $500, a misdemeanor charge. He is due in court on May 6.
Nettles, who is listed on the UTC football team roster, is a defensive back from Morrow, Georgia.
"We are aware of the situation and have no other comment," said Jay Blackman, Associate Athletics Director for Communications and Marketing.
