Roadrunner lady linksters card lowest round of season at SSAC tourney

Montgomery, AL ( –The Dalton State women lead after the first round of the two-day, 36 hold Southern States Athletic Conference Golf Championship.

The Lady Roadrunners seek to become the fourth Dalton State athletic program this year as they wrap up the tournament on Sunday at the 5,812 yards, par 72 Montgomery Country Club Course.

Dalton State finished Saturday's round with a nine over par (297). William Carey (Ms.) was 12 strokes back (309) in second while the University of Mobile (316) is third.

Erika Warzinski (DS)  and Jutchen Narwark (LU-NO) are tied for the lead at +1, 73. Julia McQuilken (DS) and Heather Nail (UM) are one stroke back with a 74. Caroline Griffin (DS) and Rachel Rebne (DS) are among the leaders with a 75 each.

“I am very proud of the girls today,” said Coach Jim McGrew. “We had great performances from the top to bottom of the lineup. It was the perfect time to put up the lowest round of the season, but we still have to go out tomorrow (Sunday) and take care of business.

The remainder of the nine-team field was as follows: Loyola of New Orleans (323), Faulkner (325), Coastal Georgia (326), Brenau University (341), Bethel (TN) 341 and Martin Methodist University (379).
