CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - It was through Channel 3's coverage of an Avondale couple's mission to serve breakfast to area kids as they wait at the bus stop Marty Fox heard they needed a refrigerator.

Twenty minutes after hearing about the plea, Fox knew he could help.

Through the passion both groups share and a little help from Channel 3, that need has now been met.

Fox and his family made the trip from Cleveland early Friday morning to deliver the brand new Whirlpool refrigerator.

“When I first talked to Chris, they were in need of just a refrigerator and I didn't have one sitting at the house or anything and so I searched around and found a supplier in Cleveland,” Fox said.

Dorothy Rolle says the support from the community through donations like this one and the recent crosswalk installed by the city let her know she's doing the right thing.

“It speaks volumes to us that someone sees what we're actually trying to do and they hear what we've been saying about the children and the community.

“Dorothy and her husband Chris have been serving breakfast to more than 70 kids at this Avondale bus stop for more than two years. The operation has grown so large, the couple's own refrigerator just wasn't cutting it.

“We needed to be able to have cold water, to keep milk, eggs and cheese,” she added.

For Fox and his family, the donation was a no brainer because the message this couple shares is a strong one.

“There's nothing more you can do in this life. Everything that you think you value isn't. It's your community, it's your family, it's having God first in your life,” Fox said.

The Rolle's say they will continue to serve breakfast throughout the summer.
