One person taken into custody after police answer shots fired call

Posted: Updated:

Around 10:30 pm Wednesday, Chattanooga police answered a shots fired call in the 25-hundred block of Long Street.  Police spoke with a bystander who said he saw a party shooting a gun in the street, then 3 people enter a house in the 25-hundred block of Williams St.

Police set up perimeter around the house and tried to make contact with individuals inside.  Two men came out and talked with police.  They identified Taylor Floyd, 24, as the one shooting the gun.  They said that Floyd was trying to make a trade for some crack cocaine and was ripped off in the deal. That's when he retrieved a pink .22 long rifle and left the house looking for the crack dealer.

In attempting to contact Floyd, police discovered he was on the phone with his dad, CPL Kevin Floyd who was on his way to the scene.

When CPL. Floyd arrived, he made contact with his son and who was then taken into custody without incident.  Police found the rifle and ammunition inside the home.

Taylor Floyd is charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.   Floyd is housed at the Hamilton County Jail on a $9-thousand. He is due in court April 22nd.
