UPDATE: Chattanooga Fire Department battled a townhouse fire on Arbell Lane earlier Thursday.

Firefighters notified telecommunications of smoke showing from one of the townhomes and would start pulling a hose line and fight the fire while Tri-Community VFD responded to the scene.

Once Tri-Community VFD arrived, they requested a mutual aid response from other local area fire department for additional manpower and engines to cover additional emergency calls in their district.

Firefighters entered the house to find heavy smoke and fire in the attic area and extinguished the fire within minutes.

Fire officials tell Channel 3,  the house was struck by lightning during the heavy thunderstorm that occurred Thursday morning.

Damage to the townhouse is undetermined at this time.

No injuries were reported. The homeowner was insured and will be staying with family.
