FIRST ON 3: Porn video suspect could be linked to earlier case

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Chattanooga police are warning the public about a man accused of inappropriate behavior towards a minor.

On Sunday evening, police say an unshaven white male in his 30's showed a 10-year-old girl a pornographic video while she was playing outside in a yard on S. Hawthorne Street.

"He could've very well took her if there hadn't been nobody else out," said Sandra Mayo, the victim's grandmother.

It's similar to another incident that happened in November of last year at a school bus stop near Boyce Street, which is roughly five miles away. There, a bearded white man, also in his 30s, walked up to two students at the bus stop and showed them a pornographic video before he exposed himself.

"It's very creepy," said resident, Michelle Woods. "I've got grandbabies, and it's scary. I don't even want them out here playing around."

Police say they can't confirm for sure whether or not this is the same man, but they certainly aren't ruling it out yet.

"Anytime you have something as offensive as this, with little leads to go on, it makes things challenging and difficult," said Lt. Eddy Chamberlin, adding that patrols are being increased in the area.

In these kinds of cases, police often depend on tips from the community to help make an arrest. Anyone who notices suspicious activity or a possible suspect should immediately call 911.

Police believe a recent incident where a man showed a young girl a pornographic video in a Chattanooga neighborhood could be related to a similar case that happened at a school bus stop several months ago.

"We can't definitively confirm it is the same person, but we are not ruling it out," said Chattanooga Police Lt. Eddy Chamberlin.

On Sunday night, police say an unshaven white male in his 30s called a 10-year-old girl over to his blue car.

The girl was playing in a neighbor's yard on S. Hawthorne St. He reportedly asked, "Have you ever seen a movie like this?" before showing the girl his phone that was playing a pornographic video. The girl ran off and the car drove away.

It's similar to an incident that happened several miles away at a neighborhood school bus stop in November 2014.

According to police, a bearded white male in his 30s approached two children at a bus stop near Boyce Street, and showed them a pornographic video before exposing himself.

During the bus stop incident, the suspect was driving a tan pickup truck. During Sunday's incident, the suspect was driving a new, blue four-door car.READ MORE | Police search for man who exposed himself to kids at bus stop
