NHTSA won't investigate minivan complaint

Posted: Updated:
Federal safety experts say they won't investigate a popular minivan after reports of potential engine problems.

Despite more than 700 consumer complaints, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it won't investigate claims certain Chrysler and Dodge minivans can suddenly stall.

According to those complaints, model year 2003 through 2007 Chrysler Town and Country, and Dodge Grand Caravans can stall after refueling.

But the federal agency says finding a safety defect is unlikely because the stalls happen infrequently and at low speeds.

Some 1-point-9-million vans are impacted but there have been no reports of accidents or injuries from the stall issue.
