UPDATE: Fire leaves 3 families displaced in Collegedale

COLLEGEDALE, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Firefighters in Collegedale battled a tri-plex fire Tuesday night.

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department received at 911 call about 10:00pm that three apartments were on fire on Virley Lane in Collegedale.

When firefighters arrived, flames coming through the roofs.

All residents were accounted for at the scene and firefighters were able to quickly to contain the fire.

Two minor injuries were reported. One resident was transported for further medical evaluation and one Collegedale police officer was treated on the scene by Hamilton County EMS for minor burns.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by Tri-Community VFD Fire Marshall's Office.

Fire officials report damages listed at $100,000.

The American Red Cross has assisted affected three families with temporary housing.


PREVIOUS STORY: A fire in Collegedale Tuesday evening has left a home uninhabitable.

It happened just after 10:00 pm on Virley Lane.

When Tri-Community firefighters arrived at the multi-family dwelling flames could be seen coming from the home.

It took firefighters roughly 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
