Cleveland doctor sentenced for falsely charging Medicare

CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

A doctor charged with fraudulently billing Medicare for Botox injections he did not give, receiving nearly 7 and a half million dollars in reimbursements between 20-08 and 20-12 has been sentenced to 28 months in jail.


Dr. Raymond Brown was sentenced in federal court Thursday.


Brown is to pay a fine of $10-thousand dollars as well as make restitution of $700,000 to Medicare.  This is the balanced owed.  


In 2013, federal agents seized more than 6 and a half million dollars from Dr. Brown's account at Athens Federal Community Bank and around 186-thousand from Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union.  

Brown has 60-days before he is to begin his prison term.
