UPDATE: Ringgold man one of 3 utility workers killed in accident in Florida

UPDATE: Bill Heckathorn is dealing with two deaths this week. First his mother, now a neighbor and friend, 40 year-old Jeffrey Estes.
“He was a great guy, a great family man,” said Heckathorn.
Estes was putting up a power pole with three other workers in Lake County, Florida, when highway patrol says a 92 year old driver of a Cadillac turned in front of another car, crashing, and killing the trio.
"The workers were 15 to 20 feet off the road, orange yellow metal fence up as a barrier, all the safety gear,” said Kim Montes, Florida Highway Patrol.
Friday Channel 3 reached out to Estes' family. They say they are heartbroken by the loss. Heckathorn says Estes was no doubt a family man. “When Jeff moved in over there he was a single man, and once he got married, the buddies seemed to go away, and he was remodeling house, and it was fun to watch the transition as he became a family man,” said Heckathorn.
Family members tell us Estes leaves behind a daughter and a son. Neighbors say they'll be there for them however they can.
“We are going to do whatever it takes to support that family, pray for them, and do whatever it takes to help get that family back to whatever normalcy can come at this time,” said Heckathorn.
Heckathorn says the loss is a reminder of how short life can be.
“We're never ready for them to leave are we?” said Heckathorn.
The driver of the Cadillac was uninjured. PREVIOUS STORY: A Ringgold man is among three utility workers with Service Electric Company of Chattanooga that have been killed in an accident in Florida.
