Chattanooga police arrested 12 people Wednesday in a drug-buying sweep with undercover officers. Some of the charges ended up being non-drug related.
The effort, assisted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were executed to reduce “street-level” drug activity around the city.
“Street level crimes like drug dealing pose a threat to the quality of life of our community members,” said CPD Lieutenant Tammy Cook. “Many times these street level drug deals can lead to robberies, aggravated assaults and/or shootings.”
The sweep was centered in Sector 2, which is the east Chattanooga area.
