A 4-year-old Georgia boy died in what investigators said was an accidental drowning at a Knoxville motel.

Police were called to the Quality Inn on Cedar Bluff Road Sunday evening at 4:45 pm.

Investigators said several families were playing in the pool when one of the men felt something bump into his leg. When he looked down, he noticed it was a small child.

The little boy was pulled from the pool and bystanders started CPR, but they could not revive the child. He was taken to Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators identified the child as Anderson Cooper Goldsmith, 4, from Ringgold, Georgia. They believe the child's flotation device was removed before he entered the water.
