FORT OGLETHORPE, GA (WRCB) -
Cabela's new location in Fort Oglethorpe has announced their official grand opening for Wednesday, May 13.
The outdoor retailer's ribbon-cutting will be followed by a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways and family activities.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony itself will culminate with the grand-opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela's employee.
The store will open at 10:00am afterwards.
Cabela's is located at 350 Cobb Parkway off Exit 353 of Interstate 75 near Costco.
Nearly 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees will staff the 72,000-square-foot store, most coming from Fort Oglethorpe and the surrounding area.
The Fort O store marks Cabela's third location in Georgia, joining the 42,000-square-foot Augusta location opened in March 2014 and the 100,000-square-foot Acworth store opened in August 2014.
The store is designed with log construction, stonework, a large mountain replica, aquarium, indoor archery range, dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays and natural, outdoor sounds. There's also a deli, fudge shop, Gun Library and Bargain Cave.
The store's staff will offer educational seminars and demonstrations throughout the year providing tips and insight on outdoor products and activities.
