UPDATE: Burglary suspect in custody after forcing school lockdown

DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY -
UPDATE: One of two suspects wanted in connection with a burglary in Whitfield County Thursday afternoon is in custody. The following manhunt caused an elementary school to go on lockdown.
Kenneth Lamar Saunders was arrested Thursday evening. The other suspect is still on the loose.
The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office is searching for two suspects wanted for burglary. The call came in around 11:30 am of a burglary in progress in the 2300 block of Third Street.
Law enforcement had been using a helicopter but that it has now been grounded, meanwhile the search continues with patrol units.
Whitfield County dispatch says they do not believe the suspects to be armed and dangerous, however, a perimeter lockdown was placed, which included Pleasant Grove Elementary School.
The school confirms they were on lockdown as a precaution due to police activity in the area. Class went on as usual and dismissal was on schedule. Buses were able to run on normal schedules this afternoon. A school resource officer and extra security personnel from the school district were at the school to monitor the perimeter and oversee bus loading.
