CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Chattanooga's Healthcare Services Credit Union had a memorial presentation at their annual meeting in honor of Mr. Walter Haddock, who passed away in December.  Mr. Haddock founded the first hospital credit union in Tennessee.  He founded Erlanger Hospital Credit Union on March 31, 1952 and he remained a member of the credit union until his death.    The credit union presented a $1,000 check to the  Alzheimer's Assocation in his honor.

Mr. Haddock worked in payroll at Erlanger, and founded Erlanger Hospital Credit Union in 1952 after seeing a need for financial assistance for Erlanger employees.  CEO Susan Tant said, "Time will not erase the work he accomplished and the lives he affected in such a positive way.  His legacy lives on."

The company changed its name to Healthcare Services Credit Union in 1998 after Erlanger built the Medical Mall, so that all medical related businesses associated with Erlanger could join the credit union.
