An Alabama man is wanted by police after allegedly stealing a horse and fleeing from authorities.

Joseph Santiago, 36, of Rainsville is wanted by the DeKalb County police after Deputies responded to a call Wednesday.

The caller reported a man riding a horse down the street with a woman following behind him on an ATV.

When Deputy Jeff Bain stopped Santiago and the woman on Alabama Highway 117 he found that the male suspect had warrants for his arrest for Criminal Trespassing and Harassment with more charges to be expected.

When Deputy Bain attempted to arrest Santiago, he and the unidentified female fled off the side of Sand Mountain.

The horse was not injured in the escape, but Santiago and the female suspect are still at large.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputies are still checking with friends of Santiago in the Hammondville and Valley Head areas, but need your help.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office at 256-845-3801.
