Former SRO in Jackson County charged in 2003 rape case

Posted: Updated:

A former Jackson County, Alabama school resource officer has been charged in a 2003 rape case.

49-year-old Lee Perry Jr. was indicted by a grand jury on 9 charges including statutory rape, and three counts of sodomy.

Perry was the SRO at Skyline High School when he allegedly raped a teenage girl, though no charges were brought forward at the time.

He resigned during the investigation.

The sheriff's office says new information has surfaced in recent months leading to the indictment.

Perry was released Tuesday on a 65-thousand dollar bond.
