UTC's Jennings garners SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (GoMocs.com) –Chattanooga's Cori Jennings has been named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Jennings compiled a 1.56 ERA while going 2-1 in three appearances (two starts) for Chattanooga last week to earn her second SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor of the season. The freshman pitcher tossed 18.0 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on 19 hits with three walks against nine strikeouts.
Jennings was the tough-luck loser on Tuesday against Georgia State, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits with no walks against one strikeout, as the Mocs fell 4-2. She bounced back with 7.0 innings pitched against UNCG on Saturday, allowing just one run on nine hits with five strikeouts to earn the victory. The native of Brush Creek, Tenn. then earned the win in relief on Sunday, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits while striking out three.
