NASHVILLE, TN (AP) - Authorities say a woman who was killed in a train accident in Humphreys County was a former Mrs. America.
WTVF-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1I7OkQo) that Susan Goodman was trying to cross the tracks in her SUV around 12:45 p.m. on Friday when it was struck by a CSX train.
Investigators said Goodman was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene.
Goodman, winner of Mrs. America in 1983, was executive director of the United Way in Humphreys and Benton counties.
CSX spokeswoman Kristin Seay said the train was made up of two locomotives and 31 rail cars. It was headed to Savannah, Georgia, from Memphis.
