First Annual Forgotten Child Fund High School Crappie Tournament a Huge Success

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The first annual Forgotten Child Fund High School Crappie Tournament was held on Chickamauga Lake Saturday, March 21, 2015. This event was sponsored by the Chattanooga Crappie Club and hosted by Sale Creek High School to help the Forgotten Child Fund collect toys for families who need a little help providing Christmas to their children.

Thirty teams representing four different area High Schools participated in this year's inaugural event. Participating schools were Soddy Daisy, Sale Creek, Chattanooga Central and Rhea County

The team of Drew Gunter and Chase Watson representing Rhea County took first place in the tournament with a seven fish limit weighing 9 pounds 9 ounces.


Finishing in second place was the Rhea County team of Macky McCrary and Jackson Lytle with seven fish weighing 9 pounds 5 ounces. Macky and Jackson also won Big Fish of the tournament with a giant crappie weighing 1 pound 13 ounces.

Third place went to Kaleb James and Blake Morgan from Sale Creek High School with seven fish weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces.

The Forgotten Child Fund is an annual project of the Chattanooga Police Dept., and later the Chattanooga Fire Dept became enthusiastic participants which now provide Christmas gifts for over 9,100 area children.

2ndRhea County – Macky McCrary – 9 lbs. 5 ozs.
3rd – Sale Creek – Kaleb James and Blake Morgan – 8 lbs. 7 ozs.
4th – Soddy Daisy – Anna Talley and Britney Pelfrey – 7 lbs. 9 ozs.
5th – Central – Austin Banther and Gavin Ainslie – 7 lbs. 2 ozs.
