I-75 fog zone in Bradley and McMinn counties to undergo testing

Posted: Updated:
On Sunday, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Tennessee Highway Patrol and contract crews, will conduct fog zone scenario testing on I-75 North and South in Bradley and McMinn counties.

Between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., the fog zone area encompasses I-75 from mile marker 27 in Bradley County to mile marker 44 in McMinn County.

During this time THP and TDOT may implement daytime closures of interstate on-ramps throughout the fog zone area to perform fog zone scenario testing activities on dynamic message signs, changeable speed limit signs, swing gates and fog detection systems.

Crews will work along I-75 in both directions at the on-ramps at exits 27, 33, 36 and 42.  Work duration at each site is expected to take a maximum of one hour plus the time required to set up and remove traffic control.

The contractor understands that if traffic volumes or congestion warrant, maintenance of certain devices may be postponed.

This work is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances delay the testing, it will be rescheduled to take place at a later date.
