An allegedly drunken driver crashed into the wrong car Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 — a Tennessee Highway Patrol cruiser working with a construction crew.

According to a THP dispatcher, the crash occurred about 1:15 a.m. near the West Hills interchange on I-40 West.

The allegedly impaired driver entered I-40 at the West Hills ramp and struck the rear of the trooper's parked car. The trooper's cruiser was stopped on the road with its emergency lights flashing to alert drivers of the presence of a Tennessee Department of Transportation crew working on the road.

No one was injured in the impact, according to the dispatcher, and the damage to the THP cruiser was minor.
