Fire crews called to Moccasin Bend for 3rd time in 24 hours

Posted: Updated:
The Chattanooga Fire Department is on the scene at Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant, it's the third time in 24 hours.

Officials say there was a small fire. Hazmat teams were called out to a Chattanooga sewer treatment plant Monday morning.

But first responders got the initial call to the Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant just after 6:30 Sunday night.

That's when two workers were sent to the hospital after being exposed to a chlorine leak.

Hazmat officials were able to stop the leak Sunday night, but responded again Monday morning when smoke was seen coming from the building.

After a quick investigation, hazmat personnel determine that there was no leak and no hazard to the public.
