CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The case against a Chattanooga Police detective has been bound over to the grand jury.

David Catchings Jr. has been arrested twice in the past six months.

He's accused of assault after allegedly hitting his mother-in-law in the face on New Year's Eve.

Catchings was also arrested in September for DUI.

He's been ordered to undergo an alcohol and drug-use assessment and to wear an alcohol monitoring device.

Catchings will remain on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of CPD's internal investigation.
