HIXSON, TN (GoMocs.com)---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team lost a 5-2 match against Tennessee Tech Sunday. The Mocs won one doubles and two singles matches in the loss to the Eagles.
Chattanooga lost the doubles point in the early going, only winning one of the three doubles matches, but came storming back with two straight singles wins.
Junior Gino Delavalle tied it up for the Mocs with a (6-0, 6-1) win over Carlos Tejas at No. 5. Sophomore Lucas Plesky followed with a (6-3, 6-4) victory over Alvaro Cintas at No. 4 to give the Mocs a 2-1 advantage in the match.
Eduardo Mena brought the Golden Eagles back with a (6-4, 7-5) win over Saunders at No. 3. Alberto Esteban also helped Tennessee Tech with a (6-3, 6-4) win over Senior Pavels Grigorjevs at No. 2.
The No. 1 match put Tennessee Tech over the edge to secure the victory as Alex Arovin posted a (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) win over junior Nick Wingord. Sophomore Derrick Brown fought well at No. 6, but recorded a (5-7, 7-6 (6), 0-1) loss to Othan Lima as the match came to an end.
