Salvation Army desperate for donations

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army is asking for your help to fill their empty shelves in their food pantry.

They feed dozens of families every day and are now wondering where the food is going to come from.

"We have a little bit of veggies, a little bit of pasta sauce and that's about it," said Kimberly George, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Salvation Army.

Not enough to feed one person; let alone multiple families.

"We want to make sure there is enough for three meals a day for three to five days, so we can't even put together a full meal or full bag," said George.

They're doing what they have to, to get by.

"Yeah we are scraping together and had to go shopping ourselves to put together some food boxes and bags," said George.

But they can't do it alone.

"Some of the items that we're needing are proteins, canned meat, peanut butter, tuna, anything like that. Also grains and staples," said George.

It doesn't take much to make a difference.

"A large bag of rice can feed a family for a couple of meals, with beans and canned meats, just mix that together and it's inexpensive but goes a long way," said George.
