(WPBN) We all know the saying "every dog has its day". Now, thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard, one dog will live to see another one.
What started out as a routine day for members of the U.S. Coast Guard in Frankfort, Michigan quickly turned into a rescue mission.
"They just looked outside the window and saw this dog jumped into the channel," said Petty Officer Tim Putnam of the U.S. Coast Guard. "We just stopped everything we were doing and went out there to try and get him out."
From there, the rescue mission was on.
"They put a line on me and from there I just asked if I jump in here are you going to be able to bring me back," said Putnam. "They said yes, so I'm like roger that, I'm jumping in."
Putnam could see the dog shivering from across the channel.
