(NBC News) - In a wide-ranging exclusive interview, President Barack Obama tells TODAY's Savannah Guthrie parents have "every reason" to get their children immunized against measles and zero reasons against it.

"I understand that there are families that in some cases are concerned about the effect of vaccinations. The science is, you know, pretty indisputable. We've looked at this again and again. There is every reason to get vaccinated, but there aren't reasons to not," the president explained.

The outbreak, linked to Disneyland, has millions of Americans examining their children's immunization schedules.

"You should get your kids vaccinated. It's good for them, but we should be able to get back to the point where measles effectively is not existing in this country."

Obama also addressed questions about terrorist activity by ISIS militants, including:

  • The captivity of a female American aid worker held since 2013: "We are deploying all the assets that we can, working with all the coalition allies that we can to identify her locations,” he said. Obama called the woman's detention “heartbreaking.
  • Videos of the beheadings of other hostages who were killed by the militants. Obama said he watched videos of the beheadings because "anything related to these terrorist actions I take a look at." He added: “I think it would affect anybody who has an ounce of humanity."
  • During a separate, earlier interview conducted live Sunday as part of NBC's pre-game Super Bowl coverage, Obama also spoke about hopes for his final two years in office, “Deflate-gate” and his game predictions.
