Barger Academy celebrates the arts

Posted: Updated:

Barger Academy of Fine Arts celebrated the arts in various forms Friday, including the unveiling of new art in the school's sculpture garden. But first, students and teachers displayed some of their many talents.

Some great performances by the award winning Choraleers, The Monday Dance Studio, and Fine Arts facilitator Juana Roberts-Wilson. Then came everyone's first look at "Reciprocal" by local artist John McLeod. It certainly adds to the scenic beauty of the school on Brainerd Road.

Principal Greg Bagby, explains its meaning, "It's supposed to show how the teacher molds the student...but the student also helps mold the teacher."

The sculpture was made possible in part by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Lowe's and S & H Erectors, which provided the materials. Artist McLeod says he is honored to have his work displayed at Barger Academy.
