Clarksville man arrested on drug charges in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - A traffic stop Tuesday morning in Marion County resulted in a drug arrest. 

A Tennessee State trooper stopped a 2009 Nissan Sentra because it was following too closely on I-24 west near mile marker 153.  Upon initial contact, the trooper noticed nervous and suspicious behavior from the lone occupant of the car. . 

Further investigation revealed that the driver, Tony Black, 28, of Clarksville, was driving on a suspended license and had several prior drug charges out of Montgomery County.

The trooper was given permission to search the car where he found various prescription pills, including, 55 Alprazolam, 20 Hydrocodone and two Amphetamine pills.  He also discovered that Black did not possess a prescription for the aforementioned pills.

Black was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II drugs and felony possession of schedule IV drugs. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license and following too close.

Black was taken to the Marion County Jail.
