Crime Stoppers: Another week, another armed robbery at Subway

Posted: Updated:

It seems there is a trend that has developed, and it is high time to put a stop to it. Up to $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward cash is waiting if you can help solve this spate of armed robberies at Subway. "Once someone gets accustomed to doing particular type of robbery at a particular type of business," said Chattanooga Police Investigator Kristoffer Tinney, "they get used to it, comfortable with it. So, they continue to do it `til we catch `em."

That may be the case, here. For the second time in as many weeks, we are featuring a man with a gun robbing the worker at a Subway restaurant. This one happened on Rossville Boulevard on January 14th. "I think it was about after 8:00, a black male came in, actually ordered food," Inv. Tinney said, "and, after a while, went to the bathroom when another customer came in. And, once the customer left, he came out of the bathroom and proceeded to rob the clerk.

Stills taken from surveillance video from inside the store shows the moment things got very serious. "He was armed with a small handgun he then pointed out the clerk," Tinney explained. "Used it to demand the money, then to order her onto the floor."

Have a close look. The bad guy is said to be 5'6" to 5'8", confident enough to go without a mask, but sporting a full beard and a toboggan. Do you recognize this person? "In my opinion, the video's good enough that someone who knows this person will say, 'hey, I know this guy and need to help out the police.'"

The promise of free money does not hurt, either. If you know something, but you are on the fence about helping us out.. remember, we pay up to $1,000 for good information and we will never ask who you are.

Help stop this man before he strikes again. Call Crime Stoppers: 423-698-3333.
