CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Country music singer Josh Turner performed at Track 29 Tuesday night for a benefit concert with US 101, to help a local non-profit.

The Steps2hope group is currently working on a project for hometown hero, Army Sgt. Jason Smith.

The Ringgold High School graduate, lost both legs after stepping on an IED while serving in Afghanistan.

Steps2hope is building his family a brand new, handicap accessible home.

Proceeds from the concert Tuesday along with some "Jason's Journey" t-shirts will help fund that project.

Mark Wilson, Steps2hope, "Jason right now lives in an apartment that has no provisions at all for his disabilities. We think these guys are willing to go fight for our freedom and sacrifice their lives and they don't deserve that, they deserve a place that can let them live a normal life."

Sgt. Jason Wilson, "This is one less thing I've have to worry about, you know, if I can't find a job, at least we have a place to go."

Construction on Jason's home will begin at the end of April.
